The centre is a Buddhist College, founded in 1980. It is a beautiful and peaceful place that contains Buddhist statues, paintings, shrines with offerings, sacred texts, and many of the symbols mentioned in the RE syllabus.
Our teachers are familiar with the Key Stages of the Religious Education 'Agreed Syllabus' for nearby Education Authorities so please specify exactly what you would like the talk, discussion and guided meditation to cover.
Generally one and a half hours is spent with our teacher who, whenever possible, will be a monk or a nun. The visit will consist of a talk in our main meditation room, where the teacher will explain the Buddhist shrines and symbology. It is an inspiring and calming environment, and teachers are often surprised at how quiet and responsive the children are. We can include a question and answer session, simple breathing meditation, or more structured meditation to develop a positive mind like love. We can explain the basics of Buddhism or anything else you would like to cover.
We are now allowing only one school visit each day, so you can stay for as long as you like. On Monday and Tuesday the teacher can meet you from 10.30am onwards. Please let us know your prefered visiting times and we will try to meet your needs.
Booking
Please contact us to discuss the content of the visit in more detail and check if your prefered dates are available. We are here to help.
Charges
Please pay reception when you arrive and they will give you a receipt. Cheques should be made payable to 'VBC Ltd.'. Alternately, ask reception for an invoice to take back to school so that a check can be sent later. Our charges are:

Secondary School/A-level - £1 each
Further Education/Adults(over 18) - £1.50 each

If visiting us presents a problem, a monk or nun can come to your school. Many schools in Lancashire have enjoyed such visits from us in the past few years, and we have had a lot of very positive feedback regarding these visits. We ask for at least a donation to cover travelling expenses.
