Chanted Prayers
Everyone is welcome to attend the following chanted prayers, free of charge. Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes early. For the 'Offering to the Spiritual Guide' and 'Melodious Drum' prayers, small food offerings are welcome, but not essential.
Wishfulfilling Jewel (WFJ)
recited most days at 4.30pm
The Guru Yoga of Je Tsongkhapa combined with the sadhana of his Dharma Protector
These prayers include two practices revealed by the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri. The first is a special Guru Yoga in which we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa, who himself is a manifestation of Manjushri. By relying upon this practice we can purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. The second practice is a method for relying upon the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favourable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our Dharma realizations. These two practices are the very essence of the New Kadampa Tradition of Mahayana Buddhism.
Offering to the Spiritual Guide
recited on the 10th and 25th day of every month at 7.30pm
A Special Guru Yoga Practice of Je Tsongkhapa's Tradition
Offering to the Spiritual Guide is a special Guru Yoga of Je Tsongkhapa is conjunction with Highest Yoga Tantra. The essence of Guru Yoga is to develop a strong conviction that our spiritual guide is a Buddha, to make prostrations, offerings and sincere requests to him, and then to recieve his profound blessings. By relying upon Je Tsongkhapa our compassion, wisdom and spiritual power naturally increase.
Melodious Drum Victorious in all Directions (Kangso)
recited around the 29th of every month (see programme)
The extensive fulfilling and restoring ritual of the Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden
This extensive practice of relying upon the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden runs for about 3 and a half hours, and is usually performed once a month at the centre. Dorje Shugden is an emanation of the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri. He always helps, guides and protects pure and faithful practitioners by granting blessings, increasing their wisdom, fulfilling their wishes, and bestowing success on all their virtuous activities.
